I have a confession: I've never really been a hockey fan. I don't have anything against hockey, but it's hard enough for me to sit still for a football game. But after this week's wedding - with Carolina Hurricanes' superstar Rod Brind'Amour and his beautiful wife Amy - I may have to start sitting in on a few games.
My sports fan shortcomings aside, the wedding was picture perfect - with a gorgeous ceremony at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, and a grand reception at the Carolina Country Club. My friend Cara with A Southern Soiree served as wedding planner and her team kept things running smoothly - no easy task considering Rod's celebrity. There were a few Caniac sightings - but everyone was respectful as they caught a glimpse of their Stanley Cup-winning hero.
We started at the Renaissance Hotel in Raleigh as the gals got ready - a great modern setting with lots of great light. Lyn Graves and the team at Fresh Affairs in Raleigh provided the stunning floral arrangements at the reception and Swank Cake Design built a cake worthy of a superstar setting. My new buddies, Chris and Toni Wheaton of Barton Creek shot video - and judging from what I've seen from their previous weddings, their presentation will be stunning. And Mitch from Joe Bunn DJ Company kept everyone moving - he really crushed it.
But enough blabbing from me, let's get on with the show!
